Clarence-Rockland Remains Generous: Rockland Help Centre Food Drive A Huge Success

The Rockland Help Centre held their annual food drive this past Sunday, and again this year residents were very generous.  According Nicole Gaul, The Vice President, more than $16,600 was donated to help stock the shelves at the centre for Christmas and the upcoming winter months.

Over 200 volunteers went door to door collecting donations, monetary, and non perishable food items, which totaled over 11,000 items, which will help the 250 families that count on assistance from the centre.  Over 50% of family members are infants, or young children.

Non perishable food items can still be donated at area businesses in Parent Independent, Giant Tiger, Food Basics, and the centre at 2815 Chamberland Street.

“Food and cash donations are still coming in and will continue for a few more weeks until Christmas. We are very pleased with the number of volunteers and the generosity of the community
at large. Also, we have the business community, too many to mention,  who assisted us in various ways. One good corporate citizen, to say the least, is Jewel 92.5 who are always there when we need them.” said Nicole Gaul Vice President of The Rockland Help Centre.
