The Ontario Provincial Police detachment in Russell is looking to identify a suspicious man who was involved in two separate incidents in the town. Back on September 4, at around 5:00 late afternoon, police say a man visited a local day care and pretended he wanted to pick up a child. The suspect was described as: – Caucasian male – Approx. 5’9″- 35-40 years old- English speaking with no accent – Tattoos on both arms – Muscular build – Facial hair or stuble also wearing a plaid shirt. The second incident happened a day later at around 2:30 in the afternoon . An unknown person driving an older black car slowed down and followed a child biking on Concession Street and Craig Street in Russell. The windows and windshield were tinted, so assistance is being sought from the public in helping to identify the vehicle with the following description: Older black car (size between a Honda Civic and Nissan Maxima) – With tinted windows and windshield – Dark rims – Unknown marker – Rust above front license plate. This evening is the all-candidates meeting in Champlain Township — it is taking place at École St-Jean Baptiste in L’Orignal at 7 o’clock. Electronic voting begins on October 17. October 22 is the official election day.
The city of Clarence Rockland has issued notice that Butler Road from Civic address 517 to the intersection of Legault Rd. will be closed today for culvert repair. Detour via Gendron, Russell and Legault Rds.
