It’s been mild the last two days, however the cold spelling returns on Thursday as many continue to deal with losing weight as their New Year’s resolution. Maastricht University researchers say turning your heat down is a cheap way to lose weight. They studied 10 years of the effects of the cold on metabolism and found being in a colder environment increases the number of calories burned. Researchers summarized that people burn more calories when its colder because the body works harder to stay warm. Those, who keep their homes warm and cozy don’t burn as many calories because their bodies don’t have to work as hard to stay warm.
