South Nation Conservation  is advising residents that the watershed will continue to remain in Level 1 Low Water Conditions under the Ontario Low Water Response Program. A level I indicates that there is the potential  supply problem should current precipitation trends persist. Recent rainfalls helped conditions temporarily, but it has begun going back down again, below normal. The remainder of August and September is forcasted to be  be warmer and drier than normal. Residents, businesses and other industries throughout the watershed are being asked to reduce their water consumption by limiting non-essential uses such as lawn watering, car washing, etc.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has made it official — he will run again in the 2019 election.  He made the announcement yesterday in his Montreal riding of Papineau as he talked to a partisan crowd about his belief in what he called “positive politics.” But on a negative note, Trudeau also accused Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer of exploiting fear and division. The Liberals have held Papineau riding for all but two of the last 50 years. The Bloc Quebecois held it from 2006 to 2008.

A dog attack in Montreal has resulted in serious injuries to two young brothers. Police say the boys’ family was looking after the dog for an acquaintance when it attacked a four-year-old in the family’s apartment yesterday. The boy was rushed to hospital with severe head injuries. The dog was locked in the apartment, but somehow escaped and attacked the boy’s seven-year-old brother on the street, seriously injuring his arm. The animal was later handed over a specialized agency run by the city.
