In The News For Clarence-Rockland — March 12, 2018

The City of Clarence-Rockland is informing residents that it is actively monitoring the Spring thaw even though they are not expecting to experience the same flooding situation as last year as per the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority’s latest watershed conditions statement.  In the event that the situation changes, the City of Clarence-Rockland will benefit from last years’ experience and best practices and advise residents that they have more than enough sand bags stockpiled in facilities to face any flooding situation. The sand bags will be made available on an as needed basis.


After nearly a day of refusing to concede, Christine Elliot is acknowledging Doug Ford’s victory in the Ontario Progressive Conservative leadership race. Elliot had initially disputed Saturday’s close results alleging they stemmed from “serious irregularities” in the vote. But in a statement on Sunday, Elliot says she is now confident in the results of the election.


After a fatal crash in Napanee last week a Belleville man has been charged with attempted murder, flight from police causing death, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. Last Tuesday, Police officers tried to stop a man for speeding on highway 2 when he collided with a second vehicle.  An 88-year-old woman in the second vehicle was killed.



Five-time Grammy Award-winner James Taylor turns 70 today. One of the most successful music artists of all time, the singer-songwriter-guitarist has sold more than 100-million records worldwide. Taylor was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000.
