The OPP are asking for the public’s help in tracking down one last suspect in a Rockland armed robbery after responding to a call last Friday night at The Source on Richelieu Street around 9:20. Two masked men walked into the store while a third person remained outside in a ….dark coloured Chevrolet full cab pick-up truck…. with no license plates. The two men made off with some electronics equipment and left in the truck. No one was injured in the robbery. A man was arrested the next day in connection with the incident. 27 year old Adrian Lai, of Ottawa was charged with one count of Armed Robbery, one count of Disguise with Intent, two counts of Forcible Confinement, and two counts of Pointing a Firearm. A 30-year old female from Ottawa, Ontario was also charged with one count of Conspiracy to Commit Indictable Offence, and one count of Robbery Using Firearm. They are scheduled to appear in L’Orignal. The third suspect is described as a tall male, wearing black clothing, and English speaking. Russell County OPP are asking for information leading to the identity and arrest of the third suspect.
A 10-year-old boy who was last seen leaving his Montreal home on Monday is still missing. Police say they have received about 120 tips after triggering an Amber Alert for Ariel Jeffrey Kouakou on Tuesday.
Officers from nearby communities as well as a canine unit helped in the search yesterday.
An organization in Ottawa is trying to raise money for a mobile hair salon that would give haircuts to homeless people. The Rolling Barber is looking to raise 15-thousand dollars to turn an old school bus into a moving salon. The groups’s director Francois Thibeault says a bus has already been donated, but operating costs are expected to be about six-thousand dollars a year. He says a nice haircut can help people regain some confidence and could even be what’s needed to land a job interview.
