Fire crews responded to a 911 call near Carlsbad Springs at 4586 Anderson Road last night. Crews initiated an aggressive attack when they arrived at the scene and the fire was contained to the bedroom. Two people were assessed by paramedics at the scene, and one person was taken to hospital as a precaution. There is no word on what caused the fire or the amount of damage the fire caused.
Ottawa paramedics say a man in his 20s is in critical condition after being run over by a bulldozer at a west-end construction site. Paramedics say the man was conscious when they arrived at the work site yesterday. They say he suffered serious injuries to his legs, pelvis and abdomen.
Coroner’s officials say an inquest will be held in the fall into the death of an inmate at a prison west of Kingston. Fifty-eight-year-old Richard Chatelain died on May 14th, 2015, while in custody at Bath Institution. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act. It’s scheduled to take place on November 21st in Napanee.
U-S President Donald Trump says Prime Minister Justin Trudeau “learned” from the mistake of criticizing him, but it’s going to cost Canada “a lot of money.” At a news conference in Singapore today, Trump recounted his recent Twitter outbursts against Trudeau after he left the G-7 Summit in Quebec on Saturday. Trump says Trudeau must not have realized that he has televisions on Air Force One, allowing him to monitor Trudeau’s news conference at the end of the summit. Trudeau simply repeated his intention to go forward with retaliatory tariffs against U-S metals and other goods.
