As a society we are living longer, and as our population increases, it’s all thanks to the 100+ Club: centenarians, those who are 100 years of age and older. Last year there were just over 8,000 centenarians in Canada. This age group had an increase by over 40%. Of those 100 and older, there were five women for every man, as women still have a longer life expectancy than men.
According to research, by 2051, the number centenarians could reach 40,000.
