Feedback Forum: What Advice Would You Give

We got this e-mail the other day, wondering what advice you will give this listener. If you need advice, but want to keep your name out of the public, drop us an e-mail:

We’ll ask our listeners for advice on your behalf, because that’s what our listeners do.

Here’s the e-mail we got:

Hi Derrick,

Awhile back you use to post e-mails from listeners looking for advice. Do you still do that? Can you because I need some advice on what to do based on what happened on the weekend, and what I saw.

My neighbours were away for the weekend, and their teenagers were home alone. They are great kids, very polite, and help out around the yard.

I am closer to their daughter, who just turned 18 years old. She’s smart, has great grades. It was shortly after 9:00 pm on Saturday, I went outside to water the garden, and I notice the neighbours daughter was in their pool with another boy. From what I know, she doesn’t even have a boyfriend.

I had to do a double take, they were skinny dipping! I have no idea who the boy was, I think he was older, but couldn’t tell, but I saw what I saw.

So here’s my question. What do I do? Do I tell her parents, and maybe destroy a friendship between me and the daughter? Do I talk to the daughter myself, “what do I say?”

She’s 18, so an adult, but really she’s still a kid, and I don’t want her to get “involved” with the bad crowd and ruin what she’s worked so hard to achieve.

What would you do? Do you think you could ask your listeners? I haven’t told anyone about this, not even my husband, but it’s been on my mind and has been stressing me out.
